The Construction Training Fund (CTF) has officially approved all of Future Institute of Australia’s Customised Skill Sets and Non-Accredited Courses for Funding.
This means eligible businesses can receive significant subsidies on a range of leadership, professional development and Work Health and Safety (WHS) training options for onsite building and construction workers.
What is the Construction Training Fund (CTF)?
The CTF is a government initiative designed to support the training and upskilling of workers across WA’s construction industry. Funded by the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund (BCITF), at workforce development, reducing the cost of training for employers and encouraging investment in skills.
It’s a system designed to reinvest in the industry, ensuring that current and future workers have access to the training they need.
What kind of savings are we talking about?
Up to 70% of the course cost for metropolitan delivery and up to 80% for regional delivery. Amounts vary depending on the course, its duration, and the number of eligible participants. Here are two examples:
- 1-Day Psychosocial Hazards Course
16 eligible workers
Cost before rebate: $4,995 + GST
Rebate applied: $3,849.49
Final cost: $1,145.51 + GST
- 4-Day Custom Skill Set Program (Nationally Recognised)
14 eligible workers
Cost before rebate: $19,980
Rebate applied: $13,888
Final cost: $6,092
These examples highlight how organisations can significantly reduce training costs while still delivering high-quality professional development to their teams.
Why Invest in Leadership and WHS Training?
In high-risk, high-compliance industries like Building and construction and mining, the importance of well-trained leaders and safety-conscious workers cannot be overstated. Beyond compliance, strong leadership contributes to:
- Reduced workplace stress and incidents
- Higher staff retention
- Improved communication and team cohesion
- Safer, more productive work environments
Who Is Eligible?
CTF eligibility extends to employees who:
- Work directly (onsite) in the building and construction industry in WA (e.g., civil workers, tradespeople, site supervisors),
- Are employed by a construction business (including subcontractors),
- Are not classified as “white collar” (i.e., HR/admin roles are typically excluded).
How do you claim the rebate?
Eligibility and rebate amounts are assessed and determined by the Construction Training Fund (CTF). Approval of a course for funding does not guarantee that every business or participant will qualify.
Once training has been successfully completed, eligible businesses can apply directly to the CTF to claim their rebate, providing the required supporting documentation. Future Institute can provide training completion and payment records to support your application.
What Training Is Covered?
All of our Leadership and Work Health and Safety (WHS) training courses are eligible for CTF subsidies.
