This course focuses on D3 & D4: Motivation and Empathy

Course Overview

Motivation – learn about motivational theories, identify what motivates yourself, how to motivate team members, and cultivate work environments that includes a range of motivators.

Empathy – ‘put yourself in someone else’s shoes’, understanding the difference between sympathy and empathy, active listening, pay attention to emotional cues and how to respond to feelings.

Overall, mastering motivation and empathy are key components of emotional intelligence and essential for effective leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal relationships. Participants in this course can expect to develop practical skills and insights to enhance their emotional intelligence in these areas.

Duration and Delivery

This course offers two options:  

  • Full-day intensive (8 hours): Covers Dimensions 1 & 2, plus one or two additional dimensions based on your priorities like D3 Motivation, D4 Empathy, D5 Social Skills.
  • Half-day introduction (4 hours): Focuses on Dimensions 1 & 2 only.

 

Both options are available for up to 18 participants face-to-face or for up to 9 participants in virtual sessions (half-day only).

Course Customisation

To ensure our training meets the specific needs of your organisation, our Instructional Design Team will facilitate a virtual meeting to customise and contextualise the content and activities in line with your workplace procedures and practices, and develop suitable activities, scenarios, and workplace application strategies to ensure meaningful outcomes.

Optional Extras

We recommend an eLearning module is completed by the participants prior to the workshop. This pre-learning will provide the underpinning knowledge for the theorists and reflectors and allow the session to be more practical and application based (additional $59 pp).

Learning Outcomes

  • Participants will learn how to motivate themselves and their team members
  • Understand the difference between extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation
  • Develop strategies to manage spirit killers and soul suckers
  • Have a deeper understanding of self, their emotions and how their mood and behaviours affect others

 

Each participant will take away an action plan to assist in the application of their new knowledge, to further develop their emotional intelligence and assist in building collaborative relationships both personally and professionally.
