Emotional Intelligence Course

Course Overview

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is one of the strongest predictors of leadership effectiveness — especially when teams are under pressure, change is constant, and performance expectations are high. This practical program helps leaders and teams understand how emotions influence thinking, behaviour, communication and culture, and how to use EQ to build trust, strengthen performance conversations and keep teams engaged.

Participants develop the skills to regulate emotional responses, recognise triggers, respond constructively to stress, and lead with greater awareness of how they impact others. The program also builds capability in empathy, organisational awareness, influence and conflict management, helping leaders create buy-in without relying on control.

Duration and Delivery

This course offers two options:

  • Full-day intensive (8 hours)
  • Half-day introduction (4 hours)

Both options are available for up to 18 participants face-to-face or for up to 9 participants in virtual sessions (half-day only).

Course Customisation

To ensure our training meets the specific needs of your organisation, our Instructional Design Team will facilitate a virtual meeting to customise and contextualise the content and activities in line with your workplace procedures and practices, and develop suitable activities, scenarios, and workplace application strategies to ensure meaningful outcomes.

Course Inclusions

  • Workbook – a take-away workbook of content, activities and notes from the workshop
  • Online EQ Self-Assessment Quiz
  • Customisation is included in the course cost

Optional Extras

We recommend an eLearning module is completed by the participants prior to the workshop. This pre-learning will provide the underpinning knowledge for the theorists and reflectors and allow the session to be more practical and application based (additional $59 pp).

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop a deeper understanding of self, including emotional triggers, stress responses, and how mood and behaviour impact others
  • Strengthen emotional self-control by responding intentionally (not reactively) in challenging situations
  • Identify emotional strengths and areas of improvement (via an EQ self-assessment)
  • Recognise common unconscious biases and reduce their impact on decision-making, communication and leadership behaviour
  • Recognise and apply “above the line” behaviours (ownership, accountability, responsibility) and avoid “below the line” behaviours (blame, excuses, denial) in workplace interactions
  • Apply practical strategies to manage stress and maintain performance and wellbeing
  • Demonstrate empathy in leadership conversations to build trust, engagement and psychological safety
  • Apply emotional intelligence skills to build stronger workplace relationships and reduce miscommunication
  • Influence others through connection by aligning communication to what motivates different people

Each participant will take away an action plan to assist in the application of their new knowledge, to further develop their emotional intelligence and assist in building collaborative relationships both personally and professionally.
