About this Project
The City of Nedlands partnered with Future Institute to deliver a Leadership Fundamentals Program designed to strengthen the capability and confidence of leaders across the organisation.
Delivered over an 11-month period, the program provided leaders with practical learning and development focused on the core skills required to lead effectively within a contemporary local government environment.
The City recognised an opportunity to strengthen leadership capability and provide leaders with a more consistent foundation of practical management skills. The Leadership Fundamentals Program was introduced to support leaders in building their confidence, strengthening day-to-day leadership practices and developing skills they could apply directly within their teams and roles.
Why the City of Nedlands chose Future Institute
The City chose to partner with Future Institute because of its practical and flexible approach to learning and development. It was important to us that the program was relevant to our organisational environment and provided leaders with practical tools and learning that could be applied back in the workplace, rather than being purely theoretical.
The Result
The program has provided a structured leadership development opportunity for leaders across the City and has supported a stronger focus on leadership capability as part of our broader People & Culture agenda.
Across the program, participants have had the opportunity to build practical skills, reflect on their own leadership approach and apply their learning within their teams. Importantly, the program has also created opportunities for leaders from different areas of the organisation to learn together, share experiences and build stronger connections across the City.
The program has helped establish a foundation that the City can continue to build upon as we strengthen leadership capability, accountability and organisational culture.
