What skills will leaders need to navigate change and build high performing teams in the years ahead?
Future Institute of Australia’s Executive Round Table events bring industry stakeholders together to explore current and future training needs, leadership challenges and workforce capabilities. Held every two years, the facilitated half-day Round Table give participants an opportunity to share perspectives, challenge assumptions and contribute to discussions about the future of work.
Exploring Industry Training Needs and Leadership Capability
Through structured discussions, brainstorming and small and large group activities, participants examine the changes affecting their organisations and the capabilities their people will need to respond.
Together, participants:
- Explore emerging disruptors and trends affecting businesses and workplaces
- Consider how these disruptors and trends will shape future workplaces and the challenges leaders will face
- Identify the skills, knowledge and capabilities leaders will need, and the training and development required now to prepare them to lead effectively in the future
Previous Executive Round Table: Leading Beyond 2030
Our 2025 Executive Round Table, Leading Beyond 2030, used three stages of analysis. Participants began with environmental analysis, exploring key issues, emerging disruptors, technology and the changing economic environment. Through scenario analysis, they considered how these factors could shape workplaces beyond 2030. Finally, capabilities analysis identified the skills, knowledge and capabilities leaders would need to lead effectively in those future workplaces, informing priorities for training and development now.
Turning Industry Insights into a Comprehensive Report
Following each Executive Round Table, Future Institute analyses the information gathered during the workshop and publishes a comprehensive report outlining the findings.
The report captures shared themes, emerging challenges and leadership capability priorities, providing insights to inform conversations about workforce planning and training.
