The course also emphasises the importance of preparation and follow-up, ensuring that difficult conversations lead to meaningful and lasting improvements.
Course Overview
This course equips managers, supervisors and team leaders to recognise signs of mental distress and potential suicide risk, start supportive conversations and connect people with appropriate help.
Participants explore the mental health continuum, common mental health conditions and barriers to seeking support. Through practical activities and discussions, they practise asking directly about thoughts of suicide, responding calmly and supportively to a disclosure, and taking immediate action when urgent assistance is needed.
The course also explores professional support and referral pathways, confidentiality, follow-up and reasonable workplace adjustments. Participants develop an action plan to support mental health and wellbeing within their teams.
