
Before attending this course, we would recommend participants have at minimum, completed the WHS risk management units for statutory positions – available through Future Institute’s Statutory Mining Supervisors Course (BSBWHS411 & BSBWHS414) and if relevant, Statutory Mining Managers Course (BSBWHS513).
Course Overview
The Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety LGIRS (formerly DEMIRS) Legislation Exam for Statutory Supervisors assesses an individual’s knowledge and ability to navigate and source information from the WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022 and the WHS Act 2020.
This training session has been created to assist participants prepare for LGIRS Legislation Exam by providing them with the skills, knowledge and techniques to understand and navigate the exam.
Session Topics:
- Exam overview
- Pools and types of exam questions
- Relevant focus areas of legislation and key terminology
- Navigating the WHS Act 2020 and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022
- Time allocation and self-monitoring
- What to mark-up in your hard-copy Acts and Regulations
- Group activity – working through a pool of example questions
- Completing your mock exam (Participants will be provided with a 60 day login and access to a mock exam after the course.)
Participants will need access to a hard copy of the WA WHS Act 2020 and the WA WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022 for this course.

- Attend Future Institute’s Exam Preparation Course
- Complete Future Institute’s online mock exam
- Register online for the LGIRS Exam (Mines Statutory Positions Portal) MSPP and prior to attending, complete their ‘example exam questions’
- Complete the LGIRS Legislation Exam
