Developing Leadership and Staff Capability at Quay Perth
Client: Quay Perth Hotel
Industry Sector: Hospitality
Project: Leadership & Staff Training
Overview
Quay Perth partnered with Future Institute to establish a structured training program for staff across all levels of the hotel. As an independent hotel without the support of a corporate learning and development team, Quay Perth identified the need to create its own formal training framework to support staff development, strengthen leadership capability and build a positive learning culture.
Across 2025 and 2026, Future Institute has delivered a series of half-day workshops for Quay Perth, with 14 sessions completed to date.
Training topics have included:
- complaints handling
- conflict resolution
- critical thinking
- innovation
- leadership
- positive workplace culture
- effective relationships
- workplace health and safety.
The Challenge
As an independent hotel, Quay Perth did not have a formal learning and development structure in place. Without access to a corporate training team or centralised L&D support, the hotel needed to develop its own approach to staff training that would meet the needs of both leaders and employees.
The goal was to create a practical and engaging training programme that supported staff at all levels, while also helping leaders build the knowledge, confidence and frameworks required to lead effectively in a busy hospitality environment.
Why Quay Perth Chose Future Institute
Following discussions with Janet and Angela from Future Institute, Quay Perth felt confident that Future Institute could meet its training needs. A key factor in the decision was the range of courses available, along with the flexibility to customise training to suit the hotel’s specific requirements.
This tailored approach meant the training could be aligned with Quay Perth’s workplace context, team needs and operational priorities, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all solution.
